London New Years Eve Fireworks 2012

Happy 2012! Garett, Ryan and I were lucky enough to see the London New Years Eve fireworks last night. We arrived about 8:00 p.m. to stake out a spot amidst a few hundred thousand of our closest friends. The crowds were massive and Ryan got sleepier as the night progressed. At 3 minutes before midnight he asked if he could take a rest. It rained on and off while we waited (typical). But WOW!!! It was worth it. We had a great vantage point next to Big Ben and in view of the London Eye. Grandpa M says he had a much better (and more comfortable) view of the show back at the flat watching the BBC.

Afterwards thousands of people flooded the streets of central London and the London Underground. It took us one hour and 40 minutes to get back to our flat...5 times as long as usual. We hope you had a great celebration too. Best wishes for a wonderful New Year!

Here are two of my videos from the evening. I uploaded them to YouTube because it was taking too long to load them directly to the blog.
